mxtps&dltns' blog of joy and wonder

I really need to get into the habit of blogging once and awhile

I mean, I have this great blog ... waiting here for me to fill it with my wisdom and witty observations, but I mostly ignore it. Honestly, when I have a really good idea™ I wind up dedicating a page to it; like my Halloween Shrine.

God, I love Halloween. There's just something special about this time of year, when the seasons turn. The kids are starting to get excited about it; heck, I even mused about throwing on a burlap sack mask (picture a scarecrow, but even more scary because it's moving around) and trying my luck at trick-or-treating with them (˶ˆᗜˆ˵) I'm only 40ish, after all.

I haven't seen as many decorations this year; our neighbour usually goes all out with scary body parts hanging from the tree, a witch, tombstones, and the whole shebang. Maybe they're just behind and they'll get to it. I love Halloween, but I don't really decorate; we don't do much for Christmas either, aside from the tree.

I'm not sure why. I think it might be a storage thing. Our place is small and already holding the belongings of four people, so storing decorations is tricky.

We'll be having a long weekend soon, for Thanksgiving. We don't really celebrate it, but we will be having food. Because, well, the food around this time of year is delicious. It'll be something like a harvest celebration rather than a colonial holiday for us, if that makes sense. We really just want an excuse to have mashed potatoes and gravy.
